If you have determined to shed off a few pounds, then you’ll have most likely have come up with some sort of workout plan. But you likely haven’t exercised in a while, so you have no idea where to begin. You probably think it’s a little frustrating. You’re lucky because it’s not that confusing or tough to do – simply start walking. You need to make walking an integral component of your workout plan.
You’ll be surprised how simple it is to squeeze walking into your workout program. Are you a dog owner? Take your dog for a fine, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn’t count. 10 minutes may not be a long time to walk, but over the course of a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. Want a little more work out? Take your dog for two walks a day. One thing you might consider is walking part of the way to work; you can make this as long as you want by merely stopping short of your workplace. You can do this irrespective of the distance of your home from your office. Walking for 30 minutes to work is doable, and if you walk to and from work you’ll be walking for an hour every day. But then, if you use public transport to go to work, simply use a bus stop farther away than the one you normally use. You’ll see it actually is no big deal to add more walking to your daily workout plan.
Walking is excellent for your body and overall health. This is because walking is one of the most efficacious aerobic exercises. This means it’s not just great for your heart, but you’ll get rid of extra pounds as well. Walking is usually done in a leisurely manner, so you won’t be stressing your joints too much, unlike running. I have a brother who’s one of those individuals who eats a ton of junk and fast food but never gains weight. How does he do it? He told me he’s never really thought about it, but maybe it’s because he walks quite a bit every day. At any rate it now makes sense. You don’t have a good excuse not to exercise, when walking is extremely simple.
Once you establish walking as a part of your everyday activities, it will become more effortless to stay with it, and as a bonus you’ll begin to notice you’re losing weight, too. As you get accustomed to walking, you’ll notice that you’re decidedly feeling better and, because it’s not that hard on you, your motivation will be enhanced also. As you walk more and notice changes, you’ll want to do more or step up the intensity level of your walks. This is fantastic; go ahead and do it. See if you can walk faster or, if you’re feeling very self-confident, you could start jogging. From there, you can progress to more brisk exercises.
Now the truth is out – there is just no excuse to not get out there and begin walking. Even if you have a hectic schedule you can take out 10 minutes to walk in your yard, or if you’re a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
Now if you really want to improve your health from all angles and live anywhere near Northern VA, Washington DC or New York then consider hiring a personal trainer DC or a personal trainer NYC.
